Guardian Academy / Your companion / Tower palette

Little Light.
Big help.

Your Ghost is more than a revive animation. A few deliberate mod choices can support XP, Glimmer, exploration, and the armor you are trying to collect.

This is the Ghost companion equipped on your character, not the Pale Heart vendor. Standalone, offline-readable, and spoiler-free. Check current tooltips before spending materials.

Start with one shell you like.

Inspect your equipped Ghost

  1. Open your character's equipment screen and inspect the equipped Ghost shell.
  2. Look at its energy capacity, available mod sockets, and each mod's current tooltip.
  3. Upgrade energy only as needed for your chosen setup, up to 10. Check the displayed Glimmer and material cost before confirming.
  4. Slot your chosen mods and confirm their total cost fits the shell's energy budget.

Some mods or sockets may require progression or an upgraded shell. Follow the requirement shown in your own inventory rather than buying another shell to solve it.

Appearance is not a combat build

An Exotic-looking shell does not make your Guardian deal more damage, heal faster, or revive safely. Pick a look you enjoy, then configure its utility mods.

One upgraded shell is enough to start. Extra shells can hold different mod setups for convenience, but upgrading several immediately is not necessary. After changing shells or characters, inspect the Ghost actually equipped; do not assume your previous choices carried over.

Choose the benefit you need today.

Ghost utility / purpose, examples, and limits
GoalWhat to look forWhat it does not do
Earn more XPAn Experience mod, such as Guiding Light or Blinding Light where available. Choose the strongest bonus that fits alongside your priority mods; check its current bonus and energy cost.XP is not a direct weapon-damage bonus, an armor drop-quality boost, or extra vendor reputation. Do not assume every progression meter uses XP.
Rebuild Glimmer reservesA Glimmer Booster in the appropriate economic socket. Use a lower-cost version if needed to fit your other choices. It does not boost Enhancement Cores, every reward currency, or the armor tier. Check your Glimmer balance/cap so you do not plan around gains you cannot hold.
Find nearby pickups while exploringA cache/resource detector, such as Wombo Detector where available. Read what it detects and its range in the tooltip. It marks eligible nearby objects; it does not open chests, collect items automatically, find every secret, or improve the loot inside.
Target an armor distributionAn Armorer mod for the desired current armor archetype. See the next section for verified examples. It does not select the armor set, slot, tier, or exact roll, and it does not modify armor you already own.

Armor farming: bias the archetype, not the whole reward.

Current Armorer descriptions make randomized armor more likely to drop with the selected archetype. This is a probability bias, not a guaranteed stat spike on every drop. Old Mobility/Resilience/Recovery and Discipline/Intellect/Strength “stat bucket” recipes are not the targeting rules taught here.

Three current Armorer examples / each costs 2 Ghost energy
ModPrimary / secondary statWhen to consider it
Grenadier ArmorerGrenade / SuperWhen both grenade investment and Super investment suit your planned loadout.
Specialist ArmorerClass / WeaponsWhen Class is a gap in your total stats and Weapons is useful alongside it.
Brawler ArmorerMelee / HealthWhen a melee-focused setup also benefits from Health investment.

These are examples, not the full archetype list or class-specific requirements. Primary and secondary describe the armor's distribution, not a cooldown ranking. Compare the other available archetypes and your full 0–200 totals; the same mod is not automatically best for every Warlock, Hunter, or Titan.

Apply it to the Exodus Down farm

  1. Use The Conflux on Nessus on Expert to start collecting the set; work toward Master for higher-tier pieces when ready.
  2. Before earning the armor reward, equip an Armorer whose stat pair helps your intended build. Grenadier is a sensible example when Grenade and Super are both priorities.
  3. Check each drop's set label, set perks, slot, tier, archetype, and actual stats. Keep the four qualifying pieces that fit around your Exotic.
  4. Compare complete equipped totals, including fragments and mods, rather than keeping only the largest number on one piece.

The Lost Sector/reward source supplies the set and tier opportunities. Your Ghost does not turn a lower-tier drop into a higher-tier one or guarantee a missing Exodus slot.

When a drop does not match

One nonmatching drop is compatible with “more likely.” A fixed roll, curated reward, or a source's own focusing rules may not behave like an ordinary randomized drop. Read that source's preview and current restrictions.

The mod is not a stat transfer, tuning mod, or promise of 200 in a stat. If results seem wrong, confirm the equipped shell and active mod first, record the source and several outcomes, and check current Bungie notices. Do not spend a large stockpile assuming a guarantee the tooltip never offered.

Keep learning with the armor you already own.

Three practical priorities, not mandatory shopping lists.

Everyday learning / XP first

Choose an Experience mod that fits your energy, then use spare capacity for a useful detector. Choose the Economic option based on today's need: Glimmer if reserves are low, or an Armorer if random armor rewards are your goal.

Trade-off: maximum XP is not always worth giving up the utility you actually came to use.

Armor session / Armorer first

Reserve the Economic socket and 2 energy for your chosen archetype Armorer. Fit Experience and tracking choices around the remaining budget. Verify the setup before collecting rewards.

Trade-off: no Glimmer Booster in that same socket; the bias still does not guarantee the desired roll.

Patrol and restock / Glimmer and tracking

Prioritize a Glimmer Booster and a detector that shows the objects you want to collect. Add an Experience mod at a level your remaining energy supports.

Trade-off: you are choosing utility and currency over the Armorer's drop bias. Switch back before your next armor-farming session.

Spend deliberately

Use the game's displayed socket and energy restrictions to assemble each setup. Lower one mod's rank if the total is too high; there is no need to fill every socket with the most expensive option.

Ghost mods complement your loadout; they do not replace Siphons, resistance mods, Champion counters, or your subclass recovery loop. No external app, account connection, paid shell, or remote tool is required.

Remember the companion tools.

Bring out your Ghost for orientation

Use your configured “deploy Ghost” input to bring up navigation information and the current objective where supported. Tracking a quest can make its next destination easier to identify. Use the map/Director to check your destination rather than following an unrelated marker.

Follow the on-screen prompts for navigation and vehicle options; availability varies by activity. This guide does not reveal hidden routes, puzzle solutions, or collectible locations.

Detection is not the Exodus magnet

A Ghost detector reveals eligible nearby caches/resources. Exodus Down's Emergency Electromagnet instead collects nearby Orbs and ammo when your shields break. They have different triggers and purposes; one does not upgrade the other.

Your Ghost also represents your revive point, but restricted revives, tokens, timers, and respawn rules come from the activity. A different shell or XP mod does not bypass them. Choose safe positioning instead of expecting a Ghost mod to rescue a dangerous push.

Sources and limits.

Prepared 24 October 2026. Current item descriptions checked through GamesRef: Grenadier Armorer, Specialist Armorer, and Brawler Armorer. These describe a likelihood increase, not a guaranteed roll.

Reference item listings: Blinding Light, Ultimate Glimmer Booster, and Wombo Detector. Exact XP/Glimmer percentages, detector ranges, and current availability are deliberately left to your live tooltip. Destinypedia / Ghost shells explains shell energy and sockets but includes historical material; use its Destiny 2 section, not Destiny 1 stat perks. The Conflux recommendation comes from Black7, not a measured farming benchmark.

Mods and rewards can change. External sources need internet and may include unrelated spoilers. This page contains no account integration, encounter walkthroughs, or invented drop-rate tests.
