Find the failed condition before replacing half your loadout. Each diagnosis follows the same pattern: likely cause, a check you can perform, and a small adjustment.
My abilities recharge too slowly.
Likely causes
The claimed return needs a hit, final blow, pickup, or ally buff that never happened.
A copied guide uses a different armor set, Exotic class-item spirit, or catalyst.
Low relevant stats reduce base recharge or externally granted energy; above-100 investment is being mistaken for another recharge tier.
You spent multiple charges and expected one proc to restore the whole reserve.
Check → adjust
Watch the meter after one qualifying action, not a whole room of explosions.
Read the live ability and perk text. Check cooldowns and whether the return is partial.
Try the same action without artifact bonuses, then add them back.
Use a supported weapon-energy route and save a charge instead of repeating an unavailable input.
Example: current Gambler's Dodge and Combination Blow use stat-scaled energy returns. Stormveil does not promise instant full resets.
Run the energy drill. Do not raise every stat to 200; improve the relevant recharge range and test the actual return first.
I die before the healing starts.
Likely causes
Your recovery starts only after a kill, counterpunch, or Orb pickup. Woven Mail, Frost Armor, and Overshields are being mistaken for healing. You moved into danger to activate a surrounded bonus, or attacked while relying on invisibility.
Remember: a defensive effect cannot undo every burst of incoming damage, and invisibility does not remove all hazards.
Check → adjust
Name the exact health-restoration source and what activates it.
Test it on a manageable enemy, checking who actually gets healed.
Use activity-matched resistances, cover, and a reachable first target.
Add a non-kill fallback available to your subclass, or safer Orb recovery. Retreat when the trigger is unavailable.
Prism Breaker: Cross Counter is a follow-up, not a guaranteed heal on the opening hit. Renewal protection is not team healing.
Eligible weapon damage with Radiant, Volatile Rounds, or Unraveling Rounds; explicit intrinsic/current weapon counter.
A Volatile target or ordinary Unravel grants the named Rounds buff. Check intrinsic-counter conflicts.
Overload
Jolt, Suppression, Slow, or an explicit weapon counter under its actual conditions.
All Arc, Void, or Stasis damage applies the required debuff.
Unstoppable
Suspend, Arc Blind, Ignition, freeze followed by shatter, or an explicit weapon counter.
Slow alone, Scorch alone, or any generic blinding/disorienting effect is the same counter.
These are keyword distinctions, not a promise that every application lands or bypasses resistance/re-stun windows. Verify live tooltips. Champion coverage drill.
I keep running out of Special or Heavy.
Likely causes
You spend limited ammo on every weak enemy, use two Special weapons without a supply plan, or assume ammo perks guarantee drops. An Auto-Loading perk refills from reserves; it does not create reserves.
Ammo type and weapon slot are separate: Choir of One is an auto rifle using Special ammo; Tractor Cannon is a Heavy shotgun.
Check → adjust
Read each equipped weapon's ammo icon and current reserve count.
Use your dependable Primary when limited ammo is unnecessary.
Match finder/scavenger/reserve mods to their real conditions and available energy. Distinguish brick frequency from ammo per pickup.
Keep the utility weapon for its intended job; switch to a conventional ranged loadout if close-range utility cannot be used safely.
One piece is a different set, an old version lacks current set perks, or the matching appearance is only an ornament. An Exotic occupies the slot where the fourth Legendary was expected.
The default is four Legendary pieces plus one Exotic armor piece, not four total armor pieces.
Check → adjust
Read the actual set label/perks on each armor item.
Use the build's five-slot allocation and count exactly four qualifying pieces.
Confirm both two- and four-piece bonuses are shown.
If missing pieces, use your best suitable Legendary armor and treat the set effects as absent until completed.
Exodus Down provides Emergency Electromagnet and Repurposed Charge; Radiant Rebound's Lustrous uses different bonuses. Never transfer one set's effects to the other.
It works solo, but not with my friends.
Likely causes
Two players need the same final blow, kills happen before your ability lands, or a teammate's control/displacement changes your setup. An ally-triggered support effect may also fail because nobody actually received the buff or healing.
A build that needs personal melee kills can feel different beside strong ranged clear; nobody is necessarily playing incorrectly.
Check → adjust
Tell the team which trigger you rely on.
Use weapon pressure while the setup is unavailable rather than demanding every kill.
Choose complementary jobs or a hit/pickup-based backup. Test in ordinary combat, not during a difficult objective.
Recheck elemental matches and range for ally buffs; personal Radiant is not automatically a shared-buff proc.
Ticks are temporary for this open page. If the behavior still differs from the tooltip, record the item version, activity/modifiers, and observed result; do not label the test successful just because damage appeared.
